Shana and I went to see Tracy Grammer tonight. She sang the one song she's finished (and I wish her a hundred more, for her sake and because it was good) and lots of songs by other folks, particularly Dave Carter (as you might expect). One of those songs was "The Mountain".
I first got a Carter/Grammer albumn (Tanglewood Tree) afterpameladean recommended him, quoting Happytown in particular. But it was "The Mountain" that I played over and over and over. The whole song struck me, and this verse
some build temples and some find altars
some come in tall hats and robes spun fine
some in rags, some in gemstone halters
some push the pegs back in line
reminded me a lot of Reclaiming. It's not an easy song, but I like it.
A leaf hits the windshield
Startling as a bird, but
